
Two Men Indicted for Assaulting Adult Male

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that two men have been indicted by a federal grand jury for assaulting another adult male with shod feet on July 31, 2012, in Cherry Creek, South Dakota. Norman Little Shield, Jr., age 21, from La Plant, South Dakota, and Joshua Hale, age 22, from Cherry Creek, South Dakota, were indicted by a federal grand jury on November 15, 2012, for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Aiding and Abetting those assaults. Little Shield and Hale appeared before US Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on November 27, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both. The charges are merely accusations, and Little Shield and Hale are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Division. Assistant US Attorney Mikal Hanson is prosecuting the case. Little Shield was released on bond pending trial. Hale was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set. |
